Trees matter

Abbey information report

Trees have many parts such as leaves, trunk, branches, twigs they can also make and do cool things

Parts of a tree
There are many parts to a tree these parts include roots, trunk leaves and many other parts
Roots
The roots a life support to a tree they collect water, nuntries and food they also grow underground
Trunk
The trunk is made of 5 parts bark, cambium, sapwood, heartwood and finally the last layer is called pholem .
Crown
The crown lives at the top of a tree and it shades the roots. The leaves are another life support to a tree they breath for the tree through a process called *photosynthesis
Twigs
Twigs store sugar and water

Photosynthesis
*photosynthesis is a process that trees use to breath . First they breath in Co2and then they breath out O2

Chlorophyll
Chlorophyll is the main pigment that provides colour. Chlorophyll gives plants the green colour because it reflects green light and absorbs red and blue light. The chlorophyll stops
in autumn and the leaves float away in the wind.

Types of trees
There are two main types of trees. They are evergreen and deciduous
An evergreen tree is a tree that is always green but losses old leaves that get replaced with new leaves.
A deciduous tree loses all of there leaves in autumn and grows all of there leaves back in spring

In conclusion all tree parts are very important and without one part the tree would not function properly.

Abbeys seasonal poem

Abbey's seasonal poem

Spring
Spring is a blossom in flight
A daisy coiled in long soft hair
A light shines through the spring garden
Swift to soar away up high
Cheerful like radiant sunlight
To let in loves and joys favourite light

Summer
Summer is a fairy so mild
Reading a book beneath the trees
Summer is so wild and free
Mirror smooth pond through heaven
Heavens little girl cooling here feet
It's getting colder as summer fades

Autumn
Autumn glides in for a little while
Leaping in the leaves is heavens girl
Sneakly a leaf floats to the ground
The amber leaves stacked up high
Flame red from heavens girl
She paints the trees her favourite shade
But quickly to quickly dose autumn fade

Winter
Winters eyes are icicle blue
Her thoughts are many, her words are few
She cause a storm from her brewing pot
Blowing to many kisses she did, she did, she blew a storm
It ripped up trees and trampolines a breeze
We told her to stop she stopped right then
But please but please never come again if your going to blow to many kisses
When she will come again without blow to many kisses is up to her the magical girl

Tree information report

PARTS OF A TREE. By Grace

There are many different parts to a tree these include crown, trunk, roots and leaves.

CROWN
The crown lives on top of the tree,it is made of leaves and branches. The crown covers the roots so they don't overheat and die.It comes in different shapes and sizes,it also helps the tree with photosynthesis, collects energy from the sun and removes extra water.

TRUNK
The trunk has different kinds of cells going right through it,these are called Cambium,Heartwood,Sapwood and Pith, another name for Sapwood is Xylem.
The trunk supports the tree ,brings water and food from the dirt and sugar from the leaves.

ROOTS
The roots are very important because they collect food and water for the tree. The roots stop the tree from falling over-they can hold a 100 foot tree!Roots can even be as big as the tree.

LEAVES
The leaves fall off deciduous trees and stay on evergreen trees. They come in different colours, shapes and sizes.Fat leaves and thin leaves are found on different types of trees.

In conclusion all the parts of the tree are very important and without any one of them the tree wouldn't grow.

Abbeys lady winter poem

Lady winter

The chilled air getting thinned down
I am experimenting in the light chill blowing across my face
Birds flying south so they won't get cold
Froze toes, violet cheeks clapping my hands to keep warm Lady winter is in the air
I can smell her lingering scent
Trees cold,flowers asleep
Waiting to bring the warm back
Puffy jacket and long socks keeping me warm as I walk
Standing here in the gardens closed eyes and head up high as I feel the soft breeze and warm sun beaming on my back
Lady winter makes her entrance blowing a chilly asher breeze as her soft feet hit the ground
The rays from the glowing sun reflect off the luke warm water
Shadow dancing walking along through the bushes
This place is so magical like in a book, just me and my friends standing here sketching as lady winter sends a message of chiles down our spines
